Lauderdale County Towns

Lauderdale County Cities, Towns, Villages,
Settlements and other wide places in the Road

Today, in fact, since the beginning of the twentieth century, most Americans live in cities, but it wasn't so for our ancestors.  In Lauderdale County, as in other similar locales, towns grew up around need.  Mill towns grew in support of timber operations or the need to process the local cotton crop, railroad towns sprouted along each new line and road extension, resort towns, too, dotted the railroad line like buttons on a shirt.  The town has played an important role in the development of the county and has always been the epicenter of human activity and social interaction.

We would like to capture more information about Lauderdale County towns.  If you know of anyone who may have knowledge about the history of Lauderdale County towns or a particular Lauderdale County town and wish to submit this data, please collect the information and send it to the Webmaster for publishing.  Where was the town, what building were located there, what was the best know purpose of the settlement and any other specifics available are welcome.
