The Wawona Tree

The Wawona Tree (1940s)

In the 1881 the Wawona Tree was tunneled in the Mariposa Grove in the Yosemite National Park. Robert Barker and wife Elsie visited there in the early 1940's with a family friend. The tree fell in 1969 due to the weight of snowfall. It became a popular place to stop and have a picture taken.
