Lawrence William Barker

Lawrence William Barker was born 12 July 1917 in Meridian, Lauderdale County, Mississippi and graduated from Meridian High School.  Lawrence Jr's nickname was Dump.  He was in the Army Air Corps during WWII. A prisoner of war from 7 May 1942 until 4 August 1942, he was held in Camp Cabanatuan after surviving the Bataan Death March.  He was buried 17 March 1950 in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis Missouri.  In 1992 he was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star at a ceremony in Biloxi, Mississippi.
