Frederick Scarborough was born in 1788 in
NC. He was the son of Silas Scarborough born 1750 in North Carolina. He
first married Martha Patsey Stinson, sister of Burwell Stinson, on Jan.
27, 1809 in Jasper Co., GA.
By 1811 Frederick, his father Silas and
brothers were paying taxes in Clarke County, AL. They are listed in the
1820 census of Clarke County, the 1830 census of Wilcox County, AL and
the 1840 census of Clarke County, AL.
Frederick's first wife died in 1816 and he
married Mary Ann Phelps on Oct. 30, 1817 in Clarke County, AL. By 1841
Frederick was paying taxes in Lauderdale County, Mississippi as were
many of his sons.
