About Us

About this Web Site

The mission of the Lauderdale County MSGENWeb web site is to provide free genealogy information to all visitors.  In addition to links to standard resources, an attempt is made to identify information of value to researchers and make it available subject to the copyright laws of the land.  Further, relevant information developed by researchers is also published free of charge.  If you have genealogy information that you would like to have published, please contact the webmaster.

About the Project

The Lauderdale County MSGenWeb site is a member of the USGenWeb Project.  This effort is directed toward developing web sites to provide genealogical information at the most useful local level.  The project is a non-commercial endeavor supported fully by volunteers, providing free access to information for everyone.

The sites under the project are organized by county and state.  Each county site provides information specific to that locale while the state sites provide consolidation information for the state and pursue various important projects of historical and genealogical significance to the state and organization.

At the national level, USGenWeb, develops and maintains a wide variety of projects, including the Archives Project, the Tombstone Project, the Family Group Sheet Project and the African American Griots Project.  For a full listing of the USGenWeb projects, please visit the USGenWeb web site.

About the Webmaster

Although no longer a resident of Lauderdale County, the Lauderdale County MSGenWeb Webmaster was born and grew-up in the county, graduated from Meridian High School and began his college education at Meridian Junior College. Even though he has now lived in another state longer than he lived in Mississippi, he continues to call Meridian home and returns on a regular, if infrequent basis.

While genealogy remains more hobby than vocation, he has done genealogical research on his own family as well as assisting others with their online inquiries.

Professionally, he has worked in the Information Technology field for many years and has developed and supported web sites for his employer.  He has recently retired and dedicates much of his time to genealogy and family research and maintaining and expanding this and other web sites.
